Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR)

An electrical installation condition report (EICR) identifies any damage, deterioration, defects and/or conditions which may give rise to danger along with observations for which improvement is recommended. The purpose of an EICR, is to determine, so far as is reasonably practicable, whether the installation is in a satisfactory condition for continued service.

It is now a mandatory requirement for landlords to have an EICR on any rented domestic or commercial property - at least every 5 years, or at the start of a new tenancy. Homeowners often ask for, or obtain a condition report as part of a house sale. There is no regulation how often an electrical inspection should be carried out for the general pulic. However, it is recommended that an EICR is carried out every 10 years in a privately-owned home.

Do I need a rewire?

If you have an older property which hasn't been tested for a few years it would be worth considering having a periodic inspection, warning signs that you may need a rewire could be experiencing slight shocks from switches and sockets, fuses tripping or have damaged or exposed worn cable, if any of these are the case you should contact a qualified Electrician.

Consumer Units

An old consumer unit is inevitably accompanied by old wiring, neither of which are ideal for the needs of modern living, being at home or in a commercial environment. With an ever-increasing number of appliances and electronic devices being used at one time, the strain on an older system makes it much less safe than a modern consumer unit.

We can give you advice on installing a new consumer unit, which will be much more sensitive than an older model, tripping out in a fraction of a second and fast enough to prevent electrocution, shutting down a circuit before anything serious happens. Get in touch if you think your electrics need some attention.

Fault Finding

Our NICEIC electricians can carry out test inspections, diagnosis and fault finding on electrical systems and are fully qualified, complying with all the latest requirements and regulations to ensure that your work is done to the highest standard. Using the latest equipment to trace faults enables our electricians to repair faults quickly.

Once the engineer has carried out the inspection they will provide a report detailing any faults and recommendations for remedial works, they can also provide an electrical inspection report for landlords.
